Everyone loves a whirlwind romance, and as Calvin Harris gets ‘engaged’ to girlfriend Vick Hope after five months, it’s enough to reignite the romance spark in all of us.
Whether it’s a fleeting passion or a surprise pair that have conquered the test of time, lots of celebrities have gone the distance after a whirlwind romance.
Calvin has reportedly popped the question to TV presenter girlfriend Vick Hope after only five months together.
The couple were seen out at the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday 23 May and eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot a sparkling rock on Vick’s ring finger.

Speculations ran rampant with that the pair are now engaged to be married.
In fact, according to reports, Calvin got down on one knee to pop the question by his favorite tree on his farm in Ibiza.
An insider said: “Vick said yes immediately, she is madly in love with Calvin and could not be any happier.”
The promise of an upcoming celebrity wedding is always a buzz, and with the likes of reality TV royalty Kourtney Kardashian having just married beau Travis Barker, we’re already raring for more.
The newlyweds had been dating since the end of 2020, so while it’s not really a whirlwind of a romance before they made it down the aisle, it did come as a surprise.
Kourtney had previously dated Scott Disick, the father of her three children, for almost ten years but the pair never married and finally split for good in 2015.
So with love on the brain, let’s take a look at eight other celebrity whirlwind romances that have so far all proven to be successful.
In the majority of cases, these couples had only been dating for a few months before agreeing to tie the knot, helping to reaffirm the idea that ‘when you know, you know.’
Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez
Ariana Grande had been through her fair share of high-profile relationships before sealing the deal with her real estate agent hubby, Dalton Gomez.
The pair were officially dating in May 2020, and were engaged barely seven months later.
They were married in a ‘tiny and intimate’ ceremony at home in Montecito, secretly wedding with less than 20 guests, just one year after confirming their status as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Ariana was previously engaged to SNL star Pete Davidson, who is now dating Kim Kardashian, after the couple met on the show in 2018.
Ariana and Pete got engaged weeks into their relationship and the singer went on to write a song about her then-fiancé on her best selling album Sweetner, titled Pete Davidson.
But, this particular love story wasn’t to last and the couple called time on their engagement a few months later.
Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky
Marvel fan-favourite Chris Hemsworth, who plays God of Thunder Thor in the franchise, met his wife Elsa Pataky in early 2010.
In a spontaneous wedding, the Aussie natives took the opportunity to get married while they were on vacation in Bali.
Holidaying with both of their families in tow, it seemed like the perfect time to get hitched.
In 2016, the actor recalled that “there was no great plan to any of it to be honest,” during a stint on Good Morning Britain.
He added: “We were on holiday and we said, ‘Why don’t we get married, too?’
“And then the next minute…There probably should have been some planning, but it all worked out.
“Honestly, we had both our families on holiday at the same time, just randomly, and we said, ‘This is a good opportunity with everyone together.’ So, we just did it.”
Together, they have three kids and more than a decade of marriage under their belt.
Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder
Vampire dreams do come true as the worlds of Twilight and The Vampire Diaries combined to give us the wholesome, countrified married life of Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder.
After eight or nine years of friendship – plus Nikki’s two-year marriage to singer Paul McDonald and Ian’s three-year relationship with his bloodsucking vampire co-star Nina Dobrev – they realised that they were meant for one another.
Nine months together concluded in an intimate wedding in 2015, followed by the birth of their daughter Bodhi in 2017.
On occasion, the couple will post loving tribute posts on their social media accounts.
Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello
There’s nothing like a bit of scandalous intrigue scattered on top of your love story.
Sofia Vergara was actually engaged to another man when she first met Joe Manganiello in May 2014.
But, things changed just a month later when Sofia was newly single and the two began dating.
Six months later, Joe proposed on Christmas Eve and the couple wed less than a year later during a glamorous ceremony in Palm Beach.
They will be celebrating seven years of marriage in November this year.
George and Amal Clooney
Despite wearing off marriage after his divorce with ex wife Talia Balsam in 1993, George Clooney’s outlook on love changed in the blink of an eye when he met Amal, a British-Lebanese barrister.
The 61 year old heartthrob admitted to Amal taking his breath away on the SmartLess podcast hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett.
He said: “The truth was, I met this amazing woman and she took my breath away.”
He added: “She was brilliant and funny and beautiful and kind. I was sort of swept off my feet.
“We got engaged after a few months and got married within the first year that we met. It surprised me more than anybody else in the world and everybody else was surprised.”
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra
Nick Jonas took online dating to the next level when he slid into Priyanka’s Twitter DMs way back in 2016.
He told her that mutual friends of the pair had said they should meet, and she replied: “My team can read this. Why don’t you just text me.”
And after months of texting, the couple finally met each other at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in 2017.
Having arrived separately, Nick saw Priyanka walk into the room, before getting down on one knee and saying: “You’re real. Where have you been all my life?”
You’d think that would be the defining moment in their relationship, but the pair dismissed any rumours before appearing together at the Met Gala in May 2017.
Alas, they didn’t see each other for a year after that, before returning to the Met Gala in 2018 where they came face to face once again.
After only three ‘official’ dates, Nick popped the question during a romantic trip to Crete and they tied the knot in a three-day wedding celebration that same year.
They recently welcomed their first child via surrogate, who is finally home after more than 100 days in the NICU.
Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego
Guardians of the Galaxy actress Zoe Saldaña only dated Italian artist Marco Perego for six months before she knew that he was the one for her.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “As soon as we decided we were going to get married, we didn’t wait.
“We did it three weeks later. That part was very, very quick.”
They have now been married for nine years and have three children together.
