Plenty of fans would have rejoiced at the eighth wedding anniversary of pop culture royalty Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on Tuesday, but, unfortunately, the former couple won’t be celebrating eight years of marriage this year.
Kim and Kanye were married on May 24 2014 and have four children together but in February 2021, Kim filed for divorce and cited “irreconcilable differences”, but Ye reportedly refused to sign the papers.
The rapper also claimed to have “never seen” the documents, Kim said in her new reality series.
Then, on March 2, Kim was declared legally single. And a day later, she removed West from her name on her official social media handles.
Kim’s court ruling comes after she accused Kanye of causing her emotional distress during their ongoing settlement proceedings.
Her KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance websites have been shut down since Sunday 1 May for a rebrand, and whilst some people assumed this was simply an excuse to drop the ‘West’ from KKW, Kim denied the rumours.

A source recently explained to Grazia: “Kim is still Kim Kardashian West and has not changed her legal name.
“The rebrand has been in the works for some time. Kanye actually helped Kim come up with the new name and the packaging.
“The innovative formulas and even the shopping experience of being able to shop all categories in beauty and cosmetics under one brand, one website has always been Kim’s vision from the beginning. She is incredibly excited about this next phase.”
Things seemed amiable at the start of the divorce process, with Kim tagging along for a number of supportive appearance at Kanye’s listening parties for his latest album Donda.
They also sat together at events with their eldest daughter North, eight, and promised to put co-parenting of North and their other kids Saint, six, Chicago, four, and Psalm, two, before anything else. But, things soon took a whiplash turn for the worse.
Public swipes and social rants took center stage after Kim presented a monologue on live American sketch show Saturday Night Live.
SNL’s celebrity hosts are encouraged to perform a comedy monologue at the opening of each show and Kim took the opportunity to deliver a savage piece to camera – taking aim at her whole family.
Kim and Kanye were thought to still be on good terms at the time, but no one was off limits.
She said: “Now I know we’re divided as a country but I’d love America to come together which is why I’m here to announce that I’m running for…I’m just kidding, you guys.
“I’m not running for president. We can’t have three failed politicians in one family,” she said taking a swipe at ex Kanye and her mum Kris Jenner’s ex Caitlyn Jenner.
She continued: “I’ve been very blessed in this life and I’m grateful for everything, honestly all the ups, all the downs, I mean I married the best rapper of all time.
“Not only that, he’s the richest black man in America, a talented legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.
“So, when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to one thing – his personality.
“I know that sounds mean but people keep telling me that comedy comes from truth and if there’s one thing that I always strive to be, it’s genuine.”
Kim recently revealed on her Hulu series that following the mention of their split in the monologue, Ye walked out of the SNL studio.
She said: “He walked out on the SNL mid-monologue. So I haven’t talked to him since. He’s upset at the fact that I used the word divorced – so he wished I said the word ‘filed for divorce’.”
“And he was upset that I also said he was a rapper. He said, ‘I’m so much more than a rapper. I can’t you said rapper. believe'”
However, Kim’s monologue wasn’t the only thing to upset the Gold Digger artist as he shared now-deleted Instagram post, claiming his daughter North was put on TikTok “against his will”.
Sharing a screenshot of one of North’s videos, he posted: “SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL.”
In response, Kim published a statement which read: “Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create.
“As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision—because it brings her happiness.
“Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all.
From the beginning I have wanted nothing but a healthy and supportive co-parenting relationship because it is what is best for our children and it saddens me that Kanye continues to make it impossible every step of the way.
“I wish to handle all matters regarding our children privately, and hopefully he can finally respond to the third attorney he has had in the last year to resolve any issues amicably.”
Later, in another outburst on social media, Kanye alleged that Kim had accused of putting a hit our on her.
In another outburst on social media, Kanye claimed he was banned form his daughter Chicago’s birthday party – but was later pictured talking to Kris Jenner at the bash.
Kanye then told his followers he wanted to ‘get this straight,’ adding: “I BEG TO GO TO MY DAUGHTERS PARTY AND IM ACCUSED OF BEING ON DRUGS THEN I GO PLAY WITH MY SON AND I TAKE MY AKIRA GRAPHIC NOVELS AND IM ACCUSED OF STEALING.”
He went on: “NOW IM BEING ACCUSED OF PUTTING A HIT ON HER THESE IDEAS CAN ACTUALLY GET SOMEONE LOCKED UP THEY PLAY LIKE THAT WITH BLACK MENS LIVES WEATHER ITS GETTING THEM FREE OR GETTING THEM THEM LOCK.”
After the party, Kanye said he had only been able to attend because Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend Travis Scott told him the address.
During a Facebook Live from inside his car, he said: “I just got to shout out to Travis Scott for sending me the address and the time and making sure that I was able to spend that birthday memory with my daughter to be there with the rest of the family.”
Before confirmation of Kim’s relationship with Pete Davidson hit the headlines, Ye was publicly begging Kim to take him back.
But once Kim’s new romance with comedian Pete was confirmed, Ye shared a series of public digs at Pete.
In a video for Kanye’s diss track Eazy, he raps: “God saved me from the crash, just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s a**,” whilst dragging what appears to be Pete Davidson’s body behind him in the cartoon music video.
Kanye then appears to bury Pete alive and decapitates the animated figure.
Pete later shared Kanye a photo of himself in Kim’s bed and hit back at Kanye in leaked text messages shared on comedian Dave Sirus’ Instagram account.
“Yo it’s Skete, Can you please take a second and calm down. It’s 8am and it don’t gotta be like this,” he wrote. “Kim is literally the best mother I’ve ever met. What she does for those kids is amazing and you are so f***ing lucky that she’s your kids mom.”
He continued: “I’ve decided I’m not gonna let you treat us this way anymore and I’m done being quiet. Grow the f*** up.”
Kanye responded: “Oh you using profanity, Where are you right now?”
Pete simply responded: “In bed with your wife,” before sharing a shirtless snap of himself, showing off his array of tattoos, with his tongue sticking out and a peace hand sign.
The Yeezy founder was later suspended from Instagram for “violating policies” with his public outbursts after he claimed he had concerns around Pete’s potential influence over his and Kim’s children.
Kanye shared a comment made by a fan referencing leaked text messages between Pete, whom Kanye refers to as Skete, and Kanye where the comedian told him he was “in bed with your wife”.
The fan had commented: “The way Skete used Kim’s marital status too address Kanye was a sneak diss towards her & she didn’t even catch it,” followed by a facepalm emoji.
Kanye captioned this: “Im really concerned that SKETE will get my kids mom hooked on drugs. He’s in rehab every 2 months.”
