Love Island’s Jamie Jewitt sheds 2.5st gained after drinking wine every day in lockdown

Jamie Jewitt has revealed he shed two-and-a-half-stone after putting it on from drinking wine during lockdown.

The former Love Island star, 32, admitted drinking a bottle of wine every night during the pandemic, with his previous discipline in healthy eating going out the window once the pandemic started.

But, in an interview with MailOnline, the star said he was determined to change and lose the weight he gained after he felt his body prematurely ageing from his unhealthy lifestyle.

He had not given up his training or exercise through the pandemic, but his diet and alcohol consumption went through the roof when he was stuck inside, meaning he quickly put on the pounds.

The TV star confessed to feeling “useless” in comparison to his wife, Camilla Thurlow, 32, whom he met on the dating series back in 2017, following the birth of their second daughter Nora just two weeks ago.

Jamie said: “I gained so much weight over lockdown and being a dad. The crazy thing is I have always been very good with going to the gym and exercising.

“I am a freak and am obsessed with sport and I love boxing, training, so I went to the gym 5-6 times a week and I never really dropped that even through lockdown.

“With me, it was the food, and I was drinking a bottle of wine every night in lockdown… it was a real bad habit.

“I used to be so disciplined with my food and then life got in the way, I got a bit older, and a lot of things happened and I found it so difficult to keep on top of my diet.”

The former Calvin Klein model credits his weight loss to MuscleFood, a meal prep company which delivers food directly to your door, which helped him get back into healthier habits with eating.

He said: “I wanted to lose weight and MuscleFood offered to help me. I lost a good two-and-a-half stone and inches everywhere and I’ve managed to keep it off and I’m still eating relatively healthy.

“They do meal plans, recipes, and ready-made meals that you can put in the freezer and deliver everything to your door.

“You give them the number of calories you burn in a day, and they put you in a calorie deficit and tailor the meals around that.

“I didn’t change my training, so it was testament to how much the diet did for me because that’s the only thing I changed. In three months, I lost weight so quick.”

Jamie and Camilla have two children now, after welcoming their second daughter, Nora, last month. They are also parents to one-year-old Nell.

The former Love Island couple married in September 2021 after falling for each other on the show – with the pair keeping their personal lives private to ensure they stayed strong.

Following the birth of Nell last year, Jamie realised his pandemic body had to go after the impact it had on his health, with him admitted he struggled to get off the floor to change his daughter’s nappy.

He said: “I’ve done every diet under the sun, I’ve done keto, I’ve been vegan for a year, vegetarian, I’ve done paleo, all of them throughout the years from when I was modeling but as I’ve got older, I have stopped caring so much about how I look.

“I was treating myself without my body image in the back of my mind, but it became an issue because I felt so unhealthy.”

The Love Island star added that he ‘felt it in his knees’, with his body aging “so much” over the two years of lockdown.

He continued: “I felt it in my knees, when I walked up the stairs my knees would be hurting, and I felt sluggish and slow when I woke up. I didn’t want to lose weight for aesthetic purposes at all I just wanted to feel like I used to.

“The biggest illuminating factor was with Nell, we had a changing table but a lot of the time I was changing her on the floor, and I couldn’t get down on my knees and back up comfortably at 30-years-old.

“It was a bit of a sign I wasn’t in the healthiest place… she is only getting more and more energetic and active, and I want to have fun with her and playing washing baskets without heavy breathing after two minutes.”

He also took the time to praise his wife, saying that Camilla sacrificed a lot for their two little girls, and that she is “absolutely amazing.”

She said: “Camilla is doing absolutely amazing. She is a trooper. One thing I have learned from being a father is that I had no idea what it took for women through every stage.

“I’ve never felt more useless in all my life in comparison to what Cam went through and she did it all with a smile.

“It is incredible, the breast-feeding, and all the time and care she gives the little one it is unbelievable. We have two beautiful little girls, and I couldn’t be happier.

“Maybe I’ll get some pampering this weekend with Father’s Day, but I don’t know if I deserve it right now considering Cam gave birth just two weeks ago!”
