Hi again everyone! It’s Shaughna Phillips – and wow, a lot has changed in the space of a week. We’ve seen people leaving, and then more Islanders arriving. Things move so quickly in the Love Island villa, and I’m loving it.
Bombshells Jay Younger and Remi Lambert have certainly shaken things up. I really like them both. I think Remi seems very chilled, he’s not putting it on as thick as Jay is. During Jay’s date with Amber Beckford, he told her she had the highest emotional intelligence in the villa. I thought it was a weird line to come out with. How can he say that to someone he doesn’t know? I think he thought it was what she wanted to hear.
It doesn’t seem like any of the Islanders are a solid couple, and I think Jay and Remi could definitely ruffle a few feathers. I would say that Amber and Dami Hope are probably the strongest in there, but I don’t see the physical attraction between them.

When I think of my series, I compare them to the likes of Paige Turley and Finn Tapp, and Molly Smith and Callum Jones, who were all very tactile with each other. That’s something that comes naturally.
I don’t see that with Amber and Dami. I think they both could potentially be bidding their time, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Although it’s a dating show, let’s all be real, there’s a money prize at the end! So if you have to bid your time until someone else comes in, then that’s what you’ve got to do.
I must admit I’m loving Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page together. I like Tasha. I think she’s a good egg. She seemed to be interested in new guy Jay, but other than that, she has no drama. Normally, you don’t really get much airtime if you don’t have any drama, but it seems to be.
I’m going to be completely honest, I fast forwarded the part when they were in the hideaway. I can’t watch it! I’m not even a prude, but I turn into the most awkward turtle when things like that happen. But from what I did see, they looked like they had a great time…
I never actually got to go into the hideaway myself. Whenever we got a text about the hideaway, Callum would be the first to scream for another couple to go in. That should have been a huge red flag for me at the time!
Also, can we please make it a law that the Islanders can’t use code words to speak about sex?! The thing is, it’s not secretive at all! They might as well just say what happened rather than talking about manicures.

I’m also still absolutely loving Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. In fact, she’s solidified herself even more in my heart. If I was in the villa with her, she’d definitely be someone I’d be drawn to because I like fiery people. But she’d be after all of our men – even our brothers and dads! And I love her for it.
When she got upset over Davide Sanclimenti not bringing her a coffee in the morning, I think it only made her more human. On the outside, it probably does just look like she was getting upset over something small, but it can be very alienating when you’re in there. When there’s another boy coming upstairs with another bloody coffee for someone that isn’t you, it’s really embarrassing.
Ekin-Su was being very flirtatious on her dates with Jay and Remi, and I think Davide was quite shocked by it. It’s nice to see a hot guy humbled!
She seems quite interested in Jay – and I do think Jay is a better match for her than Davide. But I still think someone else will come in for Ekin-Su. I also feel the same way about India Polack. She keeps her cards quite close to her chest, but I don’t think she’s really feeling Ikenna Ekwonna.
This week, we also saw the Islanders having their first party. I would rather go through Casa Amor all over again than ever have to do a Love Island party scene again. The music they play on the TV edit is completely different to what they actually play in the villa. They just play instrumental songs with no lyrics.
And for some of the dance scenes, they don’t play music at all. So all you can hear is everyone’s feet on the floor. It is so awkward. When I heard Paige Thorne saying she couldn’t wait to dance, I was thinking: “You poor soul – you have no idea!”
You barely get anything to drink either. I didn’t actually drink during my time on there, just because I didn’t like anything they had on offer. They had options of wine, Prosecco or beer. Some nights you only get one drink, and then other nights you get two, but that’s it.
The biggest drama this week was probably when Gemma Owen accidentally called Luca Bish by her ex Jacques O’Neill’s name – awkward! I died inside for her. It’s such an easy mistake to make, especially because Jacques was standing right in front of her.
Although I’m definitely a CEO of “never go back to your ex”, I’m kind of loving Gemma and Jacques. It goes against every grain of my being, but I really do like them together. I think it’s because you can see the familiarity between them.
When they talk, it’s very natural because they know each other. I don’t think I’ve seen her have a conversation with Jacques where she hasn’t had a huge smile on her face.
I just don’t want Paige to get hurt. But saying that, she seemed very open to getting to know Remi. If Paige was all for Jacques, she wouldn’t feel that way about Remi. Let’s watch this space…
