Soap Awards: Emmerdale wins best soap and full winners list revealed

Emmerdale has won the prestigious award for Best Soap at the British Soap Awards.

The awards show made a grand return after three years with Phillip Schofield presenting the ceremony, and it was a massive moment as the show came to a close.

After an evening full of excitement, celebrations and some surprises, which also saw Paige Sandhu win for best leading role, Emmerdale’s cast and crew were over the moon to win the crowning award as they are also celebrating 50 years on the air.

Lydia Dingle star Karen Blick took the helm as she thanked viewers for the incredible achievement.

Surrounded by the rest of the cast and crew cramming onto the stage and staircase, Karen beamed as she held the award.

“Thank you so much, thank you to the viewers who voted for us,” the star gushed. “Thank you so much it means the world because this is a public vote.

“Thank you thank you, well done to the whole team, we managed to not go off air for the whole of the pandemic, so well done to everybody.”

“It’s an absolute honor and delight to get this award in Emmerdale’s 50th year as well, so tune in later in the year when there will be more drama in the Dales,” the actress continued, to a cacophony of cheers from the fans in the audience.

Karen added that the whole team were “delighted and honored” with the win as she thanked everybody who “worked so very very hard on the show”.
